At the crossroads of open skies, healing soil, and a resilient herd, we provide a path forward for those who have sacrificed the most. We are proud to operate two sister programs dedicated to restoring the lives of our nation's heroes: Freedom Reins Cattle & Horse Rescue and Harvest for Heroes Farm.
Whether you are a veteran seeking a community of peers, a first responder looking for a quiet place to heal, or a supporter passionate about making a tangible difference—you have a place here.
Our Mission & Description
We believe that true healing happens when we connect with the land and care for living things.
Our dual-purpose sanctuary targets the root causes of veteran homelessness, PTSD, and civilian transition challenges through two core pillars:
Freedom Reins Cattle & Horse Rescue, Inc.
The Healing Power of the Herd: We rescue and rehabilitate horses and raise cattle, creating a safe environment where mutual healing can occur.
Through equine-assisted therapy and holistic wellness programs, veterans and first responders work alongside these powerful animals, learning to manage PTSD, anxiety, and the emotional weight of service.
The Restorative Power of the Soil: We operate a working farm designed to cultivate physical wellness and practical independence.
Veterans receive hands-on training in sustainable agriculture, crop management, and farm operations. This program provides vital job skills, fosters community self-sufficiency, and yields healthy, fresh food for those who call our ranch home.
Our overarching objective is to replace isolation with community, and uncertainty with purpose. Every dollar donated and every hour volunteered goes directly toward achieving these four core benchmarks:
Holistic Mental Wellness: Reducing the symptoms of PTSD, severe anxiety, and depression among veterans and first responders through nature-based and equine therapy.
Eradicating Homelessness: Providing a structured, supportive environment that offers stable transitions, community accountability, and temporary or long-term community housing solutions.
Workforce Development: Equipping participants with marketable skills in modern, sustainable agricultural practices, livestock management, and farm-to-table operations.
Restoration of Land & Animals: Giving a second chance to rescued livestock and utilizing regenerative farming practices to leave our slice of the earth better than we found it.
We cannot build this haven alone. It takes a community to shield a hero.
